Klamath Basin Ag Feeds Our Nation PSA (FULL)
In the Klamath Basin some of the most productive farmland in the United States - if not the world - is going dry. Crops grown by Klamath Basin family farmers and ranchers are found in every grocery store throughout the US, helping drive half a billion dollars to region's economy.
Also in the Klamath Basin are two gems of the Pacific Flyway. Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge (founded in 1908) and Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge (founded in 1928) have been dry since 2020.
The impact of Federal mismanagement of water resources has impacted wildlife and Klamath Basin agriculture to the tune of $200 million annually. And while it may seem this is only affecting our local communities, in reality it has having an impact on American food security.
